Excessive use of smartphone could give you ‘Text Neck’ — a condition that could wreck your spine

Text NeckA huge part of our day goes into surfing the web, replying to tweets, taking selfies or texting on our smartphone. Now, a new research paper reveals that slumping to read a text or study a selfie can put undue pressure on the neck.
According to the research, the weight on the cervical spine (part of the spine above the shoulders) bent at a 15-degree angle is about 27 pounds, at 30 degrees it’s 40 pounds, and at 45 degrees it’s 49 pounds. Furthermore, when you bend your head at a 60 degree angle to look at a phone screen, it puts 60 pounds – or 27kg – worth of pressure on the cervical spine.

Nova Launcher beta 3.3(lollipop update) Must try!

If you are still waiting on an Android Lollipop update, Nova Launcher has adopted enough of the new OS’ aesthetics to help tide you over. The latest beta update, version 3.3beta1, throws in a Lollipop looking app drawer for completeness.
The beta’s Lollipop-style app drawer pops out with a fancy circle animation and resembles Google’s cards. Those with the beta can enable this option through Nova Settings > Drawer > Show Pages as Cards. The update also renames the old Circle animation to Circle Wipe and contains a small number of fixes and optimizations.

Nova Launcher has already implemented Android Lollipop icons and animations, folder layouts, search bars, and even the little markers to identify the current homescreen page that you’re on, all borrowed from the latest version of Android.

Re-Enable Facebook Chat Without Facebook Messanger

Facebook, the well-known social media network that is used and loved by many internet users has recently caused some controversy regarding their mobile app. Facebook has started a movement towards having two standalone apps, one for what used to be called Facebook Chat and the other for everything else that is Facebook. Many users reacted negatively towards this change as they preferred to have everything in a single app. This means that users are now using two separate apps which both draw on battery life, take up space and sometimes it’s just a pain to have to switch between two apps for one social network.

WhatsApp Starts Showing A Blue Checkmark When Your Message Is Read, Divorces And Break-Ups Abound

"But honey, I only opened WhatsApp to reply to my boss. He still forwards me every stupid joke he gets. I didn't notice your message about the dinner with your parents!"
"Oh. I thought you did and you ignored me."
"No, no, I swear. Is it too late to reschedule now? Please don't tell me that I'm missing anotherlovely evening with your mother!"
"See, I had a hunch that you were lying, but now I'm sure. You would never use the word lovely in the same sentence as my mother. Plus, WhatsApp showed me two blue checkmarks."
"Two what-now?"
"Blue checkmarks. It means you read the message, moron. Before noon. And you didn't answer until now... Eight in the evening. How convenient!"
He mutters "Shit!" then hears a click. Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep.

How to port Lolipop Check boxes and Radio buttons with animations

We need a decompiled framework and rescues (download at attach). It's very easy, and if you know how to decompile & recompile apps you should not have any problems

Lets Go!

1. Dowload rescuses and extract it.

2. Find any btn_radio and btn_check files in your drawable-xxxx folder and delete it

3. If your framework supports xxhdpi resolution just copy and paste files from xxhdpi folder to your drawable-xxhdpi folder in /res.
If you dont have drawable-xxhdpi folder in /res just copy this folder from extracted rescuses to /res folder

4. Now copy files from extrated drawable folder to drawable folder in your decompiled framework

5. Decompile, and push your framework-res to /system/framework folder

Nexus 6 Cruises Through the FCC

Nexus 6 Cruises Through the FCC

nexus 6 official
With an October 29 pre-order date on the horizon, we were starting to wonder if and when the new Nexus 6 was going to stop by the FCC seeking approval. Thankfully, that happened yesterday, so we should be good to go on Wednesday. The device showed up under two listings with Motorola’s FCC ID attached (which makes sense since Motorola submitted them):  IHDT56QD1 and IHDT56QD2.

NEXUS 6 VS NEXUS 5

After months of rumors and speculation, Google took the wraps off the highly-anticipatedNexus 6 last week. Manufactured by Motorola, the latest addition to the Nexus line takes things to a whole other level, or, in this case, a whole new size.
But sometimes bigger isn’t better, especially if the increased size comes with a suitably large price tag. Complicating the choice, Google has kept the smaller Nexus 5 on sale in the Play Store.
So what does the Nexus 6 bring to the table when compared to its predecessor? Let’s find out, as we examine some of the differences between the Nexus 6 and Nexus 5!

Material design Wallpapers

Lollipop is still a couple of weeks away, and that’s if you’re a lucky Nexus owner. If you’re using anything else, the wait could extend indefinitely.
Luckily, you don’t need your manufacturer’s cooperation to instill some Duarte-approved greatness into your device. Things like wallpapers, sounds, apps, and more can put a touch of Lollipop on your phone right away.

A history of the Nexus smartphone line

NEXUS SMARTPHONE LINE:

google nexus evolution

Towards the end of 2009 the prospect of a Google-branded Android smartphone was lighting up the tech blogosphere. Google had already been selling the Android Dev Phone 1 to developers, but it was basically a SIM-free, unlocked HTC Dream. The idea that Google might sell its own smartphone directly to consumers was genuinely exciting.
Thankfully, when it did arrive, it wasn’t called the Google Phone.

Sleep As Android:

As a true night owl sleep is something that I find hard to commit too especially when there are so many other things I could be doing (writing for TheUnlockr, browsing the web, laundry etc). Sadly it seems as though when I finally do catch a nice wave of slumber the sound of my obnoxious alarm clock is already waking me back to reality. Now that I’ve decided to try to squeeze in ridiculously early am workouts into my life, knowing my sleep cycle and finding a better alarm clock seemed to be the logical thing to do.
Luckily I found the Sleep as Android app, or formerly known as Sleep As An Droid. This app offers a robust alarm clock and an extremely useful sleep tracker. This app is perfect for data lovers who enjoy seeing everything in a visual format.

Google Lays Out Q2 Earnings, Beats Revenue Expectations

Google logo
It’s Google earnings day, with Mountain View posting up their second quarter financials for the year of 2014. This quarter, revenue was up 22% year-over-year to $16 billion, with Q2 of 2013 ending at $13.11 billion. Patrick Pichette, CFO of Google, stated in the earnings report, “We are moving forward with great product momentum and are excited to continue providing amazing user experiences, with a view to the long term.”
During the earnings call, which takes place at the end of each quarter, Google’s CFO and Senior VP and Business chief Nikesh Arora spoke about the growth of YouTube, the urge to grow Google Fiber steadily across the country, and the need to continue growing the company’s ad business. Although, in a bit of sad news, it was learned today that Nikesh would be leaving Google to pursue a role at Softbank.
Google’s cash on hand is listed at $61.20 billion, which excludes cash classified as held for sale. In the report, Google states, “we expect to continue to make significant capital expenditures.” Naturally, Google will continue to be Google, making large purchases.
Employee count is listed at 52,069 full-time employees, 48,584 of those being a part of Google and 3,485 in Motorola Mobile.
Google shares climbed by 1.2% in after hours trading once the earnings report came out.

This simple concept profoundly extends your control of your Android device and it's capabilities, without the need for 'root' or a special home screen.
